De ministerraad heeft op voorstel van staatssecretaris Keijzer van Economische Zaken en Klimaat (EZK) ingestemd met het MKB-Actieplan. De afgelopen maanden maakte de staatssecretaris een ‘MKB-tour’ door Nederland en sprak met ondernemers over hun drie grootste uitdagingen: personeel, digitalisering en financiering. Het MKB-actieplan helpt het midden- en kleinbedrijf met het oplossen hiervan. Het kabinet stelt tot en met 2021 hiervoor 200 miljoen euro beschikbaar.

VarmX, a Leiden based biotech company focusing on the development of therapies in the field of hemostasis and thrombosis, announced the closing of a Series A financing round of € 7.5 million. The round was led by the existing shareholder BioGeneration Ventures (BGV) and regional economic development company InnovationQuarter also invested. Uniiq and Leiden University are also shareholders through conversion of their start-up loan to the company. The equity financing is supplemented by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) with an Innovation Credit of € 5.0 million to a total of € 12.5 million.
On 4 July 2018, the Top Sector Life Sciences & Health (Health~Holland) will start the initiative GROZ. GROZ seeks to realise a new balance in our healthcare system and is a national collaboration in the area of the societal challenge Health and Care. Within GROZ, citizens, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, scientists, financiers and the government will join forces at both local and national level.

Op 3 juli ondertekenen TNO en LUMC de programmaovereenkomst voor het Nederlands Innovatiecentrum voor Leefstijlgeneeskunde (NILG). Vanuit de grondgedachte dat verandering van leefstijl een van de belangrijkste bouwstenen is in de genezende zorg van morgen, willen TNO en LUMC bijdragen aan de omslag van ziekte en zorg, naar gezondheid en gedrag. Een gezonde leefstijl kan al voldoende zijn om te genezen van veelvoorkomende leefstijlziektes zoals hart- en vaatziekten of diabetes type 2. Het Diabetes Fonds is de eerste partner van het innovatiecentrum en kent een bedrag toe van 350.000 euro.
‘Inclusive digital technologies’ can be defined as ICT applications with high impact on social wellbeing. When implemented in the health sector, these technologies can become an important driver of general wellbeing. Such digital health innovations can also bring opportunities for economic growth, given the size of the sector in most OECD countries.
