Mymetics and Baylor College of Medicine Start Research Collaboration Virosome-based COVID19 Vaccines
Mymetics, a pioneer and leader in the research and development of virosome-based vaccines against life threatening and life disabling diseases, has signed a Research Collaboration Agreement with Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Center for Vaccine Development. They will be evaluating their rationally designed recombinant protein-based SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 antigens and combining them with Mymetics’ virosomes for the development of a safe and effective Covid-19 vaccine.
Leiden Joins Forces to Develop Improved Vaccines for Coronaviruses
De publieke-private samenwerking tussen het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum (LUMC) en twee Leidse bedrijven, ISA Therapeutics en Immunetune, heeft 724.000 euro ontvangen van Topsector Life Sciences & Health (;Health~Holland). Het geld zal gebruikt worden om vaccins tegen het huidige coronavirus en andere coronavirussen te ontwikkelen.

Twaalf mei verdedigde onderzoeker Ingrid van Maurik online haar proefschrift. De promotiecommissie en het College van Decanen hebben zowel haar proefschrift als haar verdediging beoordeeld en bevonden deze van excellente wetenschappelijke kwaliteit. Hierdoor is het predicaat Cum Laude aan Ingrid toegekend.

In early April, MIT hosted the first public event under the MIT COVID-19 Challenge series, Beat the Pandemic. Now, more than two months later, the MIT COVID-19 Challenge is organising a follow-on virtual hackathon, Beat the Pandemic II.
Four Projects Awarded in COVID-19 Call
The outbreak of COVID-19 has overshadowed the beginning of 2020. While the whole world is uniting forces and battling the disease, it is still very uncertain how the situation will develop. Nevertheless, Top Sector Life Sciences & Health took quick action to set up a call at the end of March. In only one month four projects have been awarded and were granted PPP Allowance to start their research.

De producten en diensten moeten bijdragen aan het verbeteren van de (toegang tot) gezondheidszorg, data en financiële bijstand.
