BiotechPartners goes live in Leiden, connecting innovators with industry.

After 10 years of the successful innovation network of MedtechPartners, the concept was translated to the biotech industry. During these meetings entrepreneurs and potential partners from industry, that focuses on new, highly innovative ideas in biotech, are matched. How? The entrepreneurs end their pitches with their challenges and the partnerships that they are looking for. In close collaboration with Health~Holland BiotechPartners entered the pilot phase on the 15th of June in Leiden.

During the first meeting of the biotech entrepreneurship network event BiotechPartners was hosted by Leiden University's TTO Luris and held in the Leiden based startup-incubator Hubspot! Executive Director of Health~Holland, Prof. Dr. Nico van Meeteren, and Director Knowledge Partnering at Luris Rob Mayfield opened the meeting. The goal of the event? To improve the connectivity between innovators and the industry, but also to give entrepreneurs the chance to ask for help in an informal setting. Resulting in a biotech innovation boost!

During the morning session, three entrepreneurs with the drive to innovate the biotech industry had the opportunity to pitch their company and pose questions or problems they are confronted with while running their business. Three great ideas where pitched, from exciting new biomolecule transduction methods (Marco de Boer from NTrans Technologies), new ways to solubilize drugs (Niall Hodgins from SeraNovo) to innovative ways of creating the 21st century's first new antibiotic (Andreas Bastian from AGILeBiotics). The result? All three entrepreneurs were matched with multiple partners that want to support and help them with their questions and problems, a successful day to say the least!

The event underscored the success of the concept, which was recognized by both the entrepreneurs and the partners. The next BiotechMeeting is on the 10th of October at Pivot Park, so we hope to see more partners and entrepreneurs joining our program!
